Aromatic Baths Have Specific Therapeutic Benefits
Since ancient times baths have been known for their health benefits. The Romans are probably best known for using baths extensively specifically for their health benefits. They had beautiful and elaborate bath houses. They also used aromatic oils in their baths to relieve stress and help with other health problems.
The effects of a full body aromatic bath will vary according to the temperature of water, the time spent in the bath and the essential oils used for the bath. The average time to yield therapeutic results is 20 minutes or less.

How many drops of essential oil do you need for a full-body bath?
This depends upon which oils you choose to use, but in general, you can place about 5 to 10 drops of essential oil into a full-body bath. Be sure to read essential oils labels and do not use oils that are skin irritants, dermal sensitizers and mucus membranes irritants. You will also need to dilute the oils with something like one tablespoon of honey. Place the drops of oil into the honey and stir it up with a toothpick for best results, then place the mixture into your aromatic bath water. Many people also use hydrosols in their aromatic bath water. Adults: Use 1 to 8 ounces of the chosen hydrosol per tub of water.
Get your water to the desired temperature. Wait until you are inside the tub before adding your essential oils/honey or hydrosols for best results. Run your hands throughout the water to disperse the concentration throughout the bath water. Then enjoy!
Warning! If you get red blotches or irritation on your skin while taking an aromatic bath, you have added too much essential oil, or you failed to use the honey to help dilute the oils, or you are experiencing an allergic reaction. Use a light cream or aloe vera gel without essential oils after the bath. Determine the cause and avoid doing the same thing again. Irritation should subside within an hour. If not, then it is probably wise to consult your physician.
