Why Are Essential Oils Produced?

Why are essential oils produced?

Essential oils are produced worldwide. They serve in a variety of industries and for a variety of purposes including:

  • the cosmetic industry
  • pharmaceuticals
  • tobacco industries
  • food and flavoring
  • perfume industries
  • used as preservatives in cosmetics
  • used as preservatives in food
  • used as insect repellents
  • used in fragrance compounds for perfumes
  • used in mouthwashes
  • used to eliminate or mask unpleasant odors
Most industries are not very concerned with the purity of the essential oil. For example: Essential oil used in perfume or fragrance oils made in labs for mass selling more than likely will be produced to maintain consistency in aroma or to reduce cost of making a final product. To produce genuine aromatherapy products having exact therapeutic properties, one must be certain of the purity of the essential oils used.

Authentic essential oils from plants are the necessary ingredients for producing genuine aromatherapy products such as inhalers, baths, spritzers, body oil, facial creams and serums, etc.

These products are very much different from the semi-natural oils very commonly offered in the marketplace and sold to consumers oftentimes at very low prices. You will also find authentic essential oils are much less allergenic and irritant than their industrial made oils counterparts.

Any time you see essential oils advertised far less in price than others, you can be certain, this is an essential oil of inferior quality, one produced for the mass marketplace to make quick and many sales, as well as essential oils lacking in the real therapeutic properties necessary to create a genuine aromatherapy product.
